Hello I’m Eric James and welcome to my blog where I journey through my mental health, life experiences, and observations on cities, society and design. I’m bringing my voice and perspective as a second-generation Chinese American millennial who has lived on both coasts and the middle.
By day I’m a software developer in Washington D.C. and I maintain web projects for the Institute for Local Self Reliance. In a previous career I was an urban planner in telecommunications and real estate in Minneapolis and San Francisco. I have a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, and a B.A. in Urban Studies, Minor Design & Architecture from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
In my spare time I love learning languages, composing music, and playing the clarinet.
